What Are Traditional Braces?
Traditional braces are metal brackets that are fixed to the front surface of the teeth. A wire is threaded through each bracket and tightened at various intervals throughout the treatment. They are designed to slowly move teeth into their correct positions by applying constant, subdued force.
Traditional braces are very effective for treating a wide range of dental issues, from minor misalignments to more complex bite problems.
The brackets used in metal braces are made from durable, strong, stainless steel. Each bracket is bonded to the front of your teeth and connected with an archwire, which are periodically adjusted throughout treatment.
The combination of brackets, wires, and tiny rubber bands (or elastics) work together to shift your teeth into their new positions over time.
One of the main advantages of metal braces is their reliability. They have been used for decades and are known for their effectiveness in producing precise results. While they may be more noticeable than other braces, today’s metal braces are smaller and more comfortable.
